JOB DESCRIPTION

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work environment (combination of remote work and in-office reporting), with the coordination and approval of the appropriate supervisor. The position is located in and will report out of Columbus, OH.

Position Title: Senior Financial Analyst

Reports To: VP of Financial Reporting & Settlement Operations

FLSA Status: Exempt

Basic Functions: A valued business advisor to finance, power supply planning, generation services and other internal business partners, and will have a solid understanding of operational practices, issues, initiatives and challenges. Actively involved in all aspects of financial planning and analysis and develops relevant metrics to measure operational performance. Analyzes and communicates complex financial information to individuals at all levels of the organization. Coordinates the overall annual budget process, including developing, capturing and providing transparent visibility of business priorities. Proactively communicates in order to constructively influence senior management on operational decisions, including recommended action plans when necessary. Presents financial information to the AMP Board of Trustees and Senior Management.

Essential Functions:

1. Understands the regulatory and legal environments, competitive landscape, financial risks and opportunities of the industry; understands the financial and non-financial performance of the organization's operating processes and results; can articulate key competitive advantages or disadvantages.

2. Assists with the preparation of the annual budget process, including development of recommended project rates.

3. Monitors financial results and coordinates preparation of budget revisions and approvals as needed.

4. Actively involved in all aspects of financial planning and analysis and develops relevant metrics to measure operational performance.

5. Effectively communicates findings and ideas to leadership to assist them in understanding the issues, possible solutions, and the risks and rewards of a particular decision. Uses collaboration and influence across organizational boundaries to remove barriers to success.

6. Dedicated to exceeding the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Keeps the customer first at all times. Values consistency and transparency, models commitment, accountability, and positive energy to produce high-quality results.

7. Identifies problems; involves others in seeking solutions; demonstrates strong abilities to evaluate relevant information; conducts appropriate analyses and interprets the outputs to assess performance and influence business decisions; searches for best solutions; responds quickly to new challenges.

8. Subject matter expert; high level knowledge of all business practices. Understanding how the company operates, and how the operations affect the community members. Understanding financial statements and various financial modeling techniques.

9. Decision-making; secures and compares information from multiple sources to identify business issues; recognizes the need for additional information and asks questions to obtain it; commits to an action after weighing alternative solutions against important decision criteria; includes others in the decision-making process as warranted to obtain good information; makes the most appropriate decisions; ensures buy-in and understanding of the resulting decisions.

10. Initiating action; takes prompt action to accomplish objectives and achieve goals beyond what is required; being proactive, persists despite obstacles.

11. Leverage system capabilities; understands and navigates financial systems to extract relevant information; assesses and monitors technology risks and associated issues with automated vs. manual business processes; determines the sufficiency of existing technology and drives new technology initiatives to meet business requirements and add value to the financial operations of the company.

12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required, MBA is a plus.

2. Three to five years of relevant experience is preferred; financial planning and analysis, accounting, budgeting, and strategic planning experience.

3. ERP system knowledge is preferred.

4. Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite, Hyperion and G/L Wands is a plus.
